Rep. Phil Roe released the following statement after the House passed H.R. 7575, the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA):

"I am proud to support this bipartisan legislation, which reauthorizes U.S. Army Corps of Engineers civil works projects. These projects are critical for improving our country's infrastructure, improving waterway navigation, and reducing flood risk. As several of our counties know, there is a strong need to address flood mitigation, and I'm pleased that the bill will allow the Army Corps to move ahead with certain less expensive projects without obtaining specific congressional approval. This will likely benefit communities in East Tennessee, and I hope this legislation is passed swiftly by the Senate."

Note: Section 120 of the bill authorizes the Army Corps of Engineers to move forward with projects to address flood mitigation in communities that have experienced repeated flooding if the project cost is less than $15 million and if the project would produce benefits that exceed its cost.
